Spring may have sprung but in Fort Lauderdale it’s not all warm and snug outside. Your furnace has been running for months striving to keep you and your family comfortable, so now is the time to show your furnace some TLC. If you hear abnormal noises or the heating system has stopped operating, you may be in need of a furnace repair. If you notice an intense gas smell, you almost certainly need furnace repair work and you should call Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning immediately.

Before you assume that you need a furnace repair technician, review these tips from Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning.

  • Check that your thermostat is set to “heat.”

It may sound ridiculous, but we have hectic days and life happens, so it can be easy to miss the simple fixes. Not remembering to change over the thermostat can make you assume you need furnace repair when really you can fix the problem with a literal flip of the switch!

  • Check your furnace switch.

Speaking of switches, make sure your furnace switch is moved to the up, or “on” position. Again, an easy miss, especially considering this switch isn’t one you might look at usually. Most systems have built-in delays so make sure when you turn on your furnace you give it a few minutes to get going before panicking about contacting our furnace repair man.

  • Change your furnace air filter.

You should swap out your home’s air filters around every three months to help your furnace run more efficiently and prolong any furnace repair work. An unclean air filter is one of the most typical reasons for poor performance in furnaces, and they can also be a breeding ground for germs and cause you and your loved ones to become sick. Swap your filter to keep both your furnace and your home healthy.

  • Check the circuit breaker.

Confirm that your circuit breaker that controls your heating system is in the “off” position. If it ends up in the middle position, switch the breaker to the “off” position and then switch back to the “on” position.

Furnace repairs could be expensive, so avoid a future issue altogether with ongoing maintenance from Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning. However, if you are ever in need of furnace repair, we are available 24/7/365 to service all your heating needs.
