The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Field Support Office in Plano, TX was honored to donate more than 320 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in Plano.
“Last September, I had the opportunity to get a group of colleagues to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an unbelievable experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They do so much more than just collect food – they are an essential part of this community.”
Cheryl Jackson began Minnie’s Food Pantry as a way to celebrate her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent her younger years wondering if and where she would obtain her next meal. Not only does Minnie’s provide free healthy meals to families in need, they also hold classes to teach families how to utilize the food they get to create healthy, long-lasting meals. They also offer resume aid along with money-management and job classes to help families get back on their feet.
Since each family receives around 50 pounds of food to last them a month, Service Experts was able to supply meals for six families for the month.
“Each member of the team was so ecstatic that we had this food drive for them, and they even took us around their awesome facility,” Wilson said.
