We are trudging through the last of the weeks of winter but we still need our furnaces, especially during cool nights. Not much is worse than laying down at night just to realize your furnace won’t start up. If your furnace won’t turn on, here are some things you can check yourself before calling Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning.
Check Air Filters
You should change standard air filters monthly. If you do not, they can get clogged, restricting air flow and resulting in a furnace malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
See if turning the temperature up a few degrees will get the furnace to turn on. If the actual room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the heating system won’t turn on. Also, make sure the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem obvious, but verify the power switch next to the furnace is “On.” Even gas heating systems use electricity so verify the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch was not accidently moved to the “Off” position.
If you review all these things and your heating equipment will still not kick on, give Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning a call at 954-736-4314 and we’ll come out and take care of you as soon as possible.
