4 Signs it's Time to Replace your Boiler

March 04, 2017

Is your boiler in need of replacing? Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning is here with some signs to look for when choosing whether it’s time to purchase a new boiler.

Age

If your condensing boiler has standard maintenance, you can expect it to operate about 15 years or so. Cast iron boilers can last even longer, even up to 50 years with proper maintenance. If your condensing boiler is coming up on 15 years or your cast iron boiler is coming up on 50 years, it may be time to think about an upgrade.

Bills

If your utility bills are going up or you’re having to call an expert about your boiler more frequently, it could be because it’s time to buy a new, more efficient boiler.

Discoloration

If you discover yellow flames on the gas burners and black soot on oil burners it could be a signal that the fuel is not burning correctly and could be creating carbon monoxide. If you observe these issues or have any concerns surrounding carbon monoxide in your home, you should call Service Experts or your gas company immediately.

Comfort

If some of the areas in your home are too warm or too cool and you can’t seem to control them appropriately or get them comfortable, it could be that your boiler is no longer effective and you might need to look into upgrade alternatives.
